For blog action day I decided to write about saving Trees. I know this topic has been done time and time again, but it is a topic of real importance. Trees do a lot for us, a lot of things we just take for granted such as: clean fresh air, improvement of water quality, saving energy, and get this, raising real estate value!
If it weren’t for our plentiful amount of trees we would not have tree foliage working to get rid of dust, micro sized metals and pollutants such as ozone, nitrogen oxides, ammonia and sulfur dioxides. As I’m sure everybody has once heard in their lifetime and knows that trees take in carbon dioxide which produces oxygen. Tree canopies and root systems slow down and reduce storm water flooding and erosion. Trees also help filter water runoff reducing potential sources of water pollution into our rivers and storm drains. As a result we have nice fresh water. Trees, obviously, provide shade, but they also have water evaporation from the leaves, both cool the air naturally. Generally homes that are shaded by trees spend a lot less money due to using less energy for cooling the house down. Usualyl neighborhoods that are well shaded and have nice landscaped yards are desired more when looking to buy a house.
Trees do a LOT more than just providing us oxygen in which we need for our every day lives, which is why I believe people should think more before cutting down trees. I agree that for every tree cut down another tree should be planted in its place, well not exactly where it once stood, but another tree for ever tree cut down. I would like to know everybody elses opinions on this matter, feel free to leave comments and thoughs.
